Type: Contract Staffing
Company: Medical imaging software developer providing end-to-end imaging workflow solutions.
Brief Description: Our client supplements its staff with contract personnel to fulfill various roles from software development and bug fixing to quality assurance to engineering management. In 2009, Stout provided eleven contract personnel in a variety of roles.
The Qualifications We Had To Find:
- Typical developer requirements included a minimum of a BS degree in Computer Science or a related field, 4+ years' experience in software engineering using C++ in a Windows environment, Experience with Microsoft Visual C++, Visual Studio .NET, XML, Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle, OOA/OOD, the Win-32 API.
- Engineering supervisor requirement included 5+ years' experience supervising a group of software engineers, commercial experience with software development using C++ and preferably C#/.NET on a Windows platform, strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- QA software engineers were responsible for the testing of client-server medical device software in a Windows network environment. The preference for this role was recent college graduates with IT or Computer Science field of study.

Brief Description: Our client needed to fill a key role in a development team, one which combined excellent programming skills with superior user interface design sensibilities.
The Qualifications We Had To Find:
- Extensive knowledge of Object Oriented Programming, Visual Studio, Win32, Microsoft frameworks (MFC/ATL), COM/DCOM, C#
- 4+ years GUI development user interaction paradigm experience
- Ability to work with product managers to define requirements
- Good understanding of common operating systems like Win NT/2000/XP/CE
- Knowledge of communications protocols and automation systems
- Knowledge of real-time computing, embedded systems
- Must understand and practice good software engineering disciplines
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally
- 8 Years minimum experience in software development
- BS Electrical Engineering or Computer Science

Role: Software QA Leader
Type: Contract-to-Hire
Company: A world leader in spectrographic instrumentation and applied holographic technology.
Brief Description: Our client had two high-profile roles to fill, tight project deadlines, and no direct-hire slots available until the next fiscal year.
The Qualifications We Had To Find:
- 3+ years of experience writing and executing test plans, including QA leadership experience.
- Ability to handle the QA role, innovate to improve its operations, organize it effectively, as well as interface with both technical and non-technical staff.
- Strong, proactive, entrepreneurial "make it happen" attitude.
- A software development background with C#, VB .NET, or VB 6 experience.
- Knowledge of Oracle databases, SQL and the ability to write scripts for Oracle.
- Familiarity with XML, C, TCP/IP, Matlab, Sourcesafe source control software, MS Project, Visio and ISO regulations.

Roles: Web Application Developers, Database Developer, Project Manager

Company: Specialists in pattern recognition, artificial intelligence and data warehousing to provide unique data mining strategies that give timely answers to critical business questions.
Brief Description: Our client was awarded a contract with deadlines that were too tight to meet using just its own staff. It added a contract project manager, two Web developers and a database developer to complete the project on time.
The Qualifications We Had To Find:
- Web Development Project Manager with 2+ years' experience managing Web applications with database back ends. Also requires proven experience working with customers to extract/define project requirements.
- Web Application Developers with experience developing Web applications that interface with databases. Also requires experience with classic ASP. IIS, Java and Windows programming.
- Database Developer with excellent SQL and database programming skills. Also requires experience with Oracle and PL/SQL.

- A strong track record writing stable and reliable code.
- Familiarity with GAMP (Good Automated Manufacturing Practice), ISO and the Food and Drug Administrations 21 CFR part 11 electronic signature requirement.
- Experience with spectrometry, image processing or signal processing.
- Must be able to work independently, make the product happen without backup, handle the pressure and opportunity of a small entrepreneurial company.

The Qualifications We Had To Find:
- Extensive experience doing QA work in an environment that develops software for resale (so called "shrink wrapped software").
- Experience managing QA Engineering staff and activities.
- Experience developing functional specifications and test plan, designing test plans and cases using specifications, testing software using automated tools.
- Working closely with technical support to help solve customer issues.
- BS in Engineering or Computer Science.
- Minimum 5 years of experience testing software.
