Are you a Systems Engineer able to work in Farmington Hills, MI developing customer requirements, supporting new business development, managing customer requirements, reporting statuses, coordinating change management, and supporting internal organizations?

LOCATION
Farmington Hills, MI client facility.

REQUIRED
  • 5+ years Systems Engineering background or equivalent.
  • Automotive industry or other QS9000 compliant work experience preferred.
  • Able to provide detailed reviews on complex/technical specifications.
  • Broad Technical Background with general knowledge of Navigation, GPS, CAN, AM/FM tuners, HDD, compressed audio encoding/decoding, Bluetooth, color TFT displays, TMC, RDS, Satellite Radio, DVD, video, Voice Recognition, Hands-Free operation and automotive environmental requirements.
  • Strong background with low and high-speed CAN protocols.
  • Practical experience in related areas such as system design, hardware/software design and real time embedded applications.
EDUCATION
BSEE minimum or advanced engineering degree preferred.

TRAVEL
Occasional (less than 25%) including 1-2 trips annually to Europe and/or Asia.

DURATION
Three to six month contract-to-hire.

COMPENSATION
Competitive hourly rate (up to 55/hr)

POSITION OVERVIEW
  • Develop technical functional specifications based on customer specifications and internal documents to clearly and concisely capture what is required of the product. Maintain these specifications as the project moves forward in time and as changes in the understanding of the product requirements continue to evolve. Where possible, prototype new HMI proposals with software tools to ensure a complete understanding of the requirements.
  • Support the sales organization as part of new business development activity by analyzing customer RFQ specifications for Hardware, Mechanical and Software impacts. This includes analyzing the specifications to identify a list of undefined or under defined features that may require additional customer clarification or exceptions taken prior to quotation.
  • Track customer specifications and versions to ensure proper product definition. Track and resolve customer specification issues. Interface with both the customer and internal teams to coordinate a successful resolution of these issues. Document and maintain product requirement exceptions, i.e. specification wavier list. Organize all product specifications in a manner that allows for simplified requirements topic searching (e.g. WIKI Page).
  • On a per project basis, track and report the status of requirements definition. Identify risk level associated with new feature development based on requirements status.
  • Work with the customer, internal teams, program management and sales organizations to document the impact analysis of customer driven and internally driven product changes. Track each change individually from the inception through the requirements analysis phase and finally to the customer change notification approval.
  • Support TQA/TQE as necessary for such items as product DFMEA, Schematic Reviews, Warranty, Diagnostics, DVP&R, User’s Manual, Technical Service Bulletins, Appearance Approvals and PSO follow up. Support the software/hardware/mechanical developers at the unit and system level to insure that all requirements are met and the highest software quality is achieved.
